In this body of work I have used the medium of encaustic monotype, using a “Hotbox” designed by Paula Roland. I began exploring movement and dance through printed dress shapes. My second source of inspiration was a dressmaking model. I explored creating movement through this static object, using colour and texture.
I applied the wax paints onto a hot surface layering, meandering, adding and subtracting. I then used my paper to imprint the image. It felt very much like the child who explores an idea through play: free and open to wherever it might lead.
